2008 - MANNING FULTON LAWYERS AMONG 2008 LEGAL ELITE

Raleigh NC Three lawyers at Manning Fulton & Skinner, P.A. have been named to Business North Carolina magazine’s 2008 Legal Elite:

W. Gerald Thornton – Tax, Estate Planning. Thornton has helped businesses of all sizes grow through strategic tax planning, employee benefit planning, and a wide variety of merger and acquisition transactions.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and the American College of Tax Counsel (ACTC) and served as an attorney for the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service from 1967-1970.

Judson A. Welborn – Construction, Litigation, Young Guns (best under 40). Welborn practices in the areas of commercial, construction and real property litigation, as well as contract planning for construction professionals. He also represents landowners in condemnation proceedings and is a former member of the N.C. Rules Review Commission.

Thomas I. Lyon – Business, Young Guns (best under 40). Lyon’s practice includes corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and securities, with an emphasis on emerging growth companies. Lyon is active in the Triangle community and serves on the Boards of Directors of the following organizations: Band Together; Goodwill Community Foundation; Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina; Boys & Girls Clubs of Wake County; and Stop Hunger Now.

In addition to the Manning Fulton lawyers named to the 2008 Legal Elite, 11 Manning Fulton lawyers have been named to the Legal Elite over the past five years. Three are members of the Legal Elite Hall of Fame: Charles L. Fulton was named the state’s top lawyer in Construction/Real Estate in 2002 and 2003. Barry D. Mann was named the top lawyer in Real Estate in 2005. Samuel T. Oliver Jr. was named the top lawyer in Real Estate in 2007.
